Equal employment opportunity is defined as each employee being treated equally in every aspect of their working environment without any discrimination regarded to their personal attributes. Personal attributes include Age, colour, ethnicity, family or career responsibilities, gender identity, mental or physical disability, political opinion, pregnancy, race, relationship status, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.  (Hayden, 2021)

Why equal employment opportunity is important

EEO directly impacts the proper contribution of employees, job satisfaction, industrial peace, and healthy organizational culture. This may create a better working place with a lawful employment base with the proper employer-employee relationship also better organizational reputation, and employer brand which will lead towards organizational success.

EEO must be included,

While hiring, external and internal recruiting, dress and appearance, legal rights, leave and other benefits, promotions, compensation, interviewing job candidates, termination, transfers, applications for employment, pay scale, background investigations, disciplinary actions, and demotions. (Bhasin, 2020)

How to implement EEO in an organization

The most important and advised concept is to implement a policy with guidelines regarding Equal employment opportunities inside the organization. This must include proper instruction on how and where to apply equal opportunity and an employee handbook to employees on adhering to all the regulations and instructions given. (Hayden, 2021) Proper training and awareness programs also can be conducted, Proper hiring and recruiting practices to be implemented with complete concern on equal employment opportunity.

  •         Creates a better working experience for all employees with equal employment rights and opportunities.
  •         Diversity is being respected in a tranquil environment where employees can work without being discriminated against by their origin
  •         High employee retention encourages employees to give their experienced effort on organizational goals.
  •         Far and wide opportunities to hire various talents and proper competency levels to recruit in the most favourable manner.
  •         Enhance organizational brand image and encourage people to get engaged with the company.

Conclusion

Equal rights are highly appreciated which can lead organizations towards success. Equal employment opportunities must be implemented by organizations for a better working experience. Bullying and harassment is critical law factor that leads to violating human rights and discrimination in the job environment. This can adversely affect organizational success.

  3. The basic EEO is the idea that everyone should be treated equally. when they’re considered for various employment decisions (including hiring, promotion, termination, compensation, etc.). For ex- that anyone can compete for a position at a company should have the same chances of succeeding for the job.
