LEADERSHIP COACHING IN AID OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Unless like traditional personal management concept with the manager and labour relations, the modern world is practicing more friendly influencing concepts with leadership behaviours. Leaders are motivating and guiding their team apart from commanding and controlling. This emphasizes that ‘Coaching’ skills in a leader can drive his team towards a successful working experience which ultimate with high performance.

What is ‘Leadership coaching’?

“The definition of Leadership Coaching is a developmental process where a leader gets tailored help from a coach to help them achieve a goal and become a more effective leader.” (Gounis, 2018)

Leadership coaching is an appropriate developmental process for leaders who adapted to suit a person or achieved in partnership with a coach. The role of the coach is a friendly influence in which the leader believes he has the proper potential to achieve the goal or outcome he has planned accordingly.

Directive coaching is where the manager plays the role of a mentor. Directions are given in exact base and employees follow the rules and regulations also instructions in ordering manner.

laissez-faire coaching is in which leaders do not give any orders but let the team carry on the whole process alone with their own desire.

nondirective coaching is where the leader is taking the team ideas to be involved in advance and taking decisions with everyone's desire. Creative and innovative ideas come up with this coaching.

situational coaching is which management handles the coaching style according to the situation in the middle of the directive and non-directive. It is a neutral concept with leaders carrying on an intelligent way to handle the team.

Above related with coaching styles defines in which the leadership coaching directly the team towards its goals and tasks.

  • Identify talents of the team and improve the relevant skills of employees.

Conclusion

Leadership coaching can be effective in each business especially in the financial sector which weights high in a country’s economy. The banking sector must have proper leadership coaching which can lead the team towards maximum productivity and support the business with performance management and the economy in a favourable manner.
